MEET THE 2021-2022 HPS COUNCIL

The Hispano Philanthropic Society is made up of council members in a variety of industries and backgrounds, all with a passion for recognizing and celebrating the philanthropic spirit of Hispanics.

Andrea Romero, HPS Chair

Andrea Romero is a proud native New Mexican. She kicked off her real estate career in 2017 and has built a successful business as an agent and investor. Prior to 2017, Andrea worked as a Project Manager and Program Manager for the City of Albuquerque and Sandia National Laboratories. She holds an MBA from the University of New Mexico and is a certified Project Manager. Andrea is passionate about her community and serves as a volunteer for various non-profit organizations.

Beverlie Frazier, HPS Vice Chair

Beverlie Frazier is an Albuquerque native with over 25 years of experience in marketing, advertising, and business development. Her roles have varied from Vice President of Marketing, National Sales Manager, Political and Automotive Specialist to Business Development Director. She believes in helping people and businesses prosper by connecting people to resources in helping them achieve their goals.  She takes pride in developing partnerships in the community through networking and collaboration.  

Beverlie has a master’s degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix and a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of New Mexico.  She’s a proud wife of retired Deputy Chief of Albuquerque Fire Rescue and proud mom of twin daughters.

Angela Gallegos-Macias

Angela Gallegos-Macias was born and raised in New Mexico, and the notion of community has always been a central premise for her.  She recognized from an early age that it is the cohesive members of a community that when aligned can make the difference for positive change. Angela Gallegos-Macias has always strived for excellence, equity and the ability to bring all voices to center to be represented.

Angela Gallegos-Macias is a board-certified family medicine physician who serves as the Medical Director of the PMG Las Estancias Primary Care Clinic and the Assistant Medical Director for primary care-Presbyterian Medical Group. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychobiology from Occidental College in Los Angeles, California. She earned her medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine.

As a family and community physician Angela Gallegos-Macias has provided primary care to patients of all ages in Albuquerque’s South Valley since 2007.  Her passion is practicing at the intersection of chronic disease management and preventive care while emphasizing the interplay of the social determinants of health. Innovation and being a vehicle for change drive her motivation and she thrives in the South Valley community creating a bridge to the patient centered medical neighborhood, leveraging community partnerships to build a stronger, healthier and invested community. Angela’s role models are her two teenage daughters and her mother as they remind her of the past and the future and keep her invested in her community with the desire to continue to give back.

Kristin Garcia

Kristin Garcia is a Client Success Manager with an international full-service marketing and branding agency, Xynergy – A Consumer 51 Company. Most recently, she worked with Albuquerque entertainment and tech startup, Electric Playhouse as Marketing Director.  

Kristin is an Albuquerque native committed to creating innovative experiences and opportunities for the local economy and continuing to promote New Mexico as an epicenter for arts and culture. She draws her passion for community and philanthropy from a background in the nonprofit sector specializing in development and marketing.  Kristin has extensive experience in fundraising, working locally with Special Olympics New Mexico, the YMCA of Central New Mexico, the National Institute of Flamenco, and most recently with the National Hispanic Cultural Center Foundation.  Kristin is a University of New Mexico grad with a BA in Mass Communications. 

Alma Gonzalez-Edwards

Born and raised in Albuquerque, NM, Alma Flor Gonzalez-Edwards, MBA, is a Center Business Administrator for Sandia National Laboratories managing various financial portfolios in excess of 200M.  Alma has been with Sandia Labs collectively for 13+ years.  She spent 4 years in the industry working for Lovelace Rehab Hospital as a Project Coordinator, which enabled her to work with patients in the Albuquerque community and worked directly under the Director of Risk Management, helping manage grievances and working with two psychologists on staff.

Alma has participated in various community programs through Sandia’s Community Outreach Program.  She mentored a high school Latina through the Hermanitas Program, served as a middle school mentor in impoverished communities, volunteered at Cuidando Los Ninos, and participated in fundraising activities for numerous events.

Alma received her Master of Business Administration from Webster University and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a minor in Psychology from the University of New Mexico.  She enjoys traveling, experiencing differing cuisines, and spending time with her family, friends, and her husband Zhabiz.

Sean Martinez

Born, raised and educated in New Mexico with a sincere appreciation of our culture.  Career banker in the commercial lending area and long-time HPS council member. The joy of philanthropic work for me comes from the smiles on the faces of people you’ve helped.

Justin Martinez

Born and raised in Roswell, New Mexico, Justin Martinez has called Albuquerque home for over 6 years. Justin moved to Albuquerque in the Fall of 2015 to pursue an undergraduate degree at the University of New Mexico where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from the Anderson School of Management in Spring 2019 and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the Anderson School..

During his time as a student Justin remained extremely active as a student leader and served in many leadership roles within his respective student organizations, The Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA) and the Association of Graduate Business Students (AGBS). He served as the Vice President and President for both student organizations and currently still serves as president for AGBS.

Justin has served in a variety of professional roles including multiple internships at Sandia National Laboratories, a stint at UNM’s Anderson School of Management, and most recently as the Manager of Development and Membership with the National Hispanic Cultural Center Foundation. Over his professional career Justin has proven to be a dynamic leader, a strong relationship builder, and a strong communicator.

 As a second-generation U.S. citizen, Justin is extremely invested in the preservation and promotion of Hispanic culture and the advancement of Hispanic people. His passions include ethical business practices, sustainability, and the furthering of diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout all industries. Justin believes strongly in collective community strength and harnessing individual networks to create lasting community change. 

In his free time, Justin loves to spend plenty of time with his friends, his family, his partner Ariana, and their Pug, Petunia. Justin enjoys cooking, outdoor activities, and playing pickleball and volleyball competitively.

Justin hopes to use his professional background, his network, and his passion to aid in furthering the mission of the Hispano Philanthropic Society.

Manuel Pino

Growing up in Socorro, NM granted Manuel Pino the opportunity to gain an appreciation for his community, family and heritage. With an appreciation for the small-town community perspective, he strives to incorporate those principles into his daily interactions. He takes pride in appreciating and honoring his background and strives to continue to support others in their success and endeavors. 

He has dedicated his career to healthcare and has worked for Presbyterian for 25 years. Throughout that time he has worked in the capacity of an RN providing direct patient care and for the last 21 years has been in management. He currently serves in the capacity of Senior Director of Practice Operations for Primary Care which allows him the opportunity to strategically plan for primary care operations and growth potential while additionally overseeing the financial and operations for the Southern regional primary care sites within CDS.

Manuel earned his BSN-RN from UNM and went on to pursue an Executive MBA from Anderson School of Management. Manuel enjoys spending time with his family and nurturing and guiding his three children to take pride in their community and foster a social conscience of excellence and giving.

Jade Rivera

Jade Rivera is a native New Mexican and a proud product of public education.

Ms. Rivera has a solidified commitment to education as a former middle school math teacher and policy administrator for the NM Public Education Department.

In 2018 Ms. Rivera founded and opened the doors of Albuquerque Collegiate Charter School, a high-expectations, high-supports public charter school located in Albuquerque’s South Valley. Since its opening, Ms. Rivera and her team have led Albuquerque Collegiate scholars to perform in the top 1% of elementary schools in the state.

Ms. Rivera holds a B.A. from the University of New Mexico and an M.Ed in Elementary Education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Jade enjoys volunteering with various non-profit organizations around Albuquerque, attending sporting events, and playing golf.
