2nd Leadership Speaker Series with HPS

On October 12, the Hispano Philanthropic Society (HPS) hosted its second event in the Leadership Speaker Series which featured a panel of Hispanic business leaders discussing the topic, “Sustaining a Successful Business in the Current Economic Climate.”

The panelists were: Andrew Baca, CEO, Abba Technologies; Mercedes Chavez, Outreach and Marketing Specialist, US Small Business Administration; Leroy Pacheco, President and CEO, The Loan Fund; and Laurene Rodriguez, Owner and CEO, Mariposa Marketing.

The event, held at UNM’s Continuing Education Building was well attended and the discussion, moderated by Council Member Ernest Rodriguez-Naaz and Council Vice Chair Beverlie Frazier was packed with engaging conversation, differing perspectives, and tips and tools for all business owners. The advice given applied to any industry and business. Whether a concept idea or booming business, those in attendance were sure to walk away with new information and an expanded network.

When asked about the event, Andrea Romero, HPS Chair said, “It was truly inspiring to see a panel of intelligent, personable, and highly successful, local Hispanic business owners and leaders engage with our community’s future leaders. HPS’s focus is on Hispanic leadership and philanthropy this event illustrated just that.”
