About 100 volunteers are needed to participate in the UWCNM grant review panels.

Grant review panel volunteers provide such an important function in our work – they ensure that donor gifts are invested wisely.“ says Melissa Fox, UWCNM grants manager. “Subject matter expertise is not required; we’re looking for volunteers who can be objective, committed to the process, and are empathetic to agencies and the most vulnerable community members’ needs.”

Volunteer Description:

All volunteers – new and returning – will attend a mandatory two-hour training that includes cultural sensitivity and poverty awareness. Volunteers can attend one of four sessions offered. (Saturday March 7, 10 a.m. to noon, Monday, March 9, 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, 7:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m., and Friday, March 13, 1-3 p.m.)

Volunteers, as part of a panel, will then review applications and listen to sets of presentations between March 28 and April 15. Sessions are usually scheduled for four-hour blocks of time.

Panels will compare scores, then make funding recommendations based on agency application and presentations.

The project will be complete by April 17 when final recommendations are due.
