United Way of Central New Mexico (UWCNM) has assisted the Morgridge Family Foundation (MFF) with the distribution of $77,000 in grants its awarding for a group of nine nonprofits serving central New Mexico. In order to help even more local nonprofits, UWCNM will launch a fundraising effort to match the $77,000 for gifts to the Emergency Action Fund, a collaborative effort with the Albuquerque Community Foundation. 

United Way of Central New Mexico will launch the fundraising campaign on its social media platforms to invite continued giving to the Emergency Action Fund, which distributes grants between $500 and $5,000 to New Mexico nonprofits. 

The contributions of the MFF to our community are inspirational,” said Rodney Prunty, President and CEO of United Way of Central New Mexico. “Grants like these are vital to many organizations and we want to continue to highlight this emergency fund so even more grants can be awarded.” 

To date, the Fund has raised nearly $600,000 and granted $335,000 to 70 organizations. Grants will continue to be made weekly until the Fund is depleted. 

UWCNM represents one of several communities that the Morgridge Family Foundation (MFF), of Denver, Colorado, selected for a $1 million investment in COVID-19 emergency relief funding. This second round of $1 million emergency relief funding will be distributed to 14 community foundations and United Way partners that will allocate funds to local nonprofits. In total, the funding will support 115 different organizations to continue their life-changing work. As the social and economic impact of COVID-19 develops, the additional funding will ensure essential services continue and vulnerable populations are supported.
