United Way of Central New Mexico (UWCNM) is hosting its second annual Day of Caring Scavenger Hunt on September 18, 2021. The day provides friends and families a safe and socially distanced opportunity to learn more about the work of nonprofits in our community, while also enjoying some creative activities and volunteer opportunities as they visit areas of Albuquerque and Rio Rancho.

A number of health and human service agencies will host activities that range from the artistic, such as an art project; to volunteering on a small project, like writing encouraging notes for an agency’s clients; to “just for fun,” such as a bingo game. Several organizations are accepting donations, including canned goods, art supplies for young adults, school supplies and children’s clothing. Participants will be entered into a prize drawing for sharing their experiences on social media.

“We hope the community will join us to learn more about the important services these agencies are providing,” said Rodney Prunty, President and CEO of United Way of Central New Mexico. “This is a chance to have fun, do some good and create memories, all while increasing awareness of our partners’ work to help others.”

Participants will be directed to a location to start their experience, where a packet of information that contains “clues” will be delivered safely to their car. They may choose the area of town they prefer when they register, including Rio Rancho. Safety and cleaning procedures will be in place at each location. The event will culminate with a gathering at Revel Entertainment Center for a celebration, awards ceremony & after party.

The Day of Caring Scavenger Hunt is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., although not all participants will require the full time frame to complete their visits, with the celebration following from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. There is no set cost to participants; anyone who would like to attend can donate in any amount.
